Learning Anatomy Through The Masters

Rey Bustos graduated as an illustrator with honors from the Art Center College of Design in 1989 and was elected by the student body to be the student speaker at their graduation. Rey then went on to illustrate for many companies and magazines as well as having numerous fine art exhibits since 1990. He was represented by the San Marino Gallery in Pasadena. Rey has also been teaching since 1990 and is now considered one of the preeminent artistic anatomy teachers in the country. Rey is also in the teaching staff at Disney Feature Animation.

Rey will make anatomy more accessible than anyone thought possible. Most assume it takes years to master, however this is not necessarily the case. You will learn all the fundamentals of anatomy, in a streamlined fashion.

What You’ll Learn

The course will go through the full process of  forms and anatomy on the living figure. Starting with, how anatomy is used to express emotional imagery. The emphasis throughout the course will be on addressing the nuances of forms, structures, expressions, and presentation.

By the end of the course, students will have produced an atomically accurate living creature. They should also have gained knowledge on how to troubleshoot new problems or tasks.

This workshop on Artistic Anatomy will consist of six modules of  live sessions. You’ll learn core anatomically accurate skills and workflows and be part of a community of artists working to achieve next level quality in their work.

By the end of the workshop you'll:

  • Have developed a fluency in the various anatomical stages.
  • Know how to create dynamic poses for your anatomically accurate figure.
  • Have mastered and understood the different muscle groups and how they are correlated with each other.
