STUDENT SUCCESS STORY
Game Art ProgramÂ
From Architecture to Junior 3D Artist on the Game Rust
For Martiine Mayeur, creativity has always been a constant, even while working in architecture, project management, and finance. But her real passion lived elsewhere: in the worlds of computer games. What started as a hobby in 3D art soon grew into a calling, pushing her to take the leap into game art.Â
That leap paid off. Today, Martiine is a Junior 3D Artist at Facepunch Studios, contributing to DLCs for Rust and bringing her imagination to life in one of the most recognized survival games in the world.
Martiine shares, “The course structure is great, more similar to an apprenticeship or mentorship than a typical university course. You can actually create art and scenes that you feel passionate about and post them on your portfolio.”

What Our Students Are Saying
Game Art Program

Angela Jeong
With the knowledge I gained and portfolio I made at Vertex, I got hired into the game industry!Â
Prior to Vertex, I had very little software knowledge. Now I’m comfortable using Maya, Zbrush, Substance Designer, Painter, etc.
I really enjoy the community Vertex provides. People are always exchanging info and providing feedback - there is always someone willing to help you. I guarantee that if you are willing to push yourself, you will be able to get a lot out of the Game Arts Program.
With Vertex I felt that I was supported and part of the school community both during and after graduating.Â
I'm super grateful that I joined Vertex!
After Graduating from Vertex: Environment Artist at Liquid Development

Monica Bauer
Vertex forced me to develop a work ethic and by giving me the opportunity to talk to a variety of people within the industry, Vertex also gave me access to connections I had never thought possible. In fact, I still regularly stay in touch with my Vertex mentor a year after being his student.
While I’d like to say that many of my connections are the results of being incredibly lucky, I’d also like to think that it is important to set yourself into the position to be lucky. What I mean is that by taking initiative, you have a better chance of making lasting connections with others you admire.
After Graduating from Vertex: Environment Artist at Blizzard Entertainment

I recently finished the Game Art Program at Vertex and got a job in the industry! I now work at Antimatter Games based in the UK. Prior to Vertex I studied illustration for 3 years and used 3D applications for all of my work - I was always drawn to concept art and still image but wanted a job in the game industry though I didn't know how to approach it or what to specialize in.
I started looking online at tutorials but felt very lost. I started searching around for online courses with mentorship from industry pros to further my knowledge - I checked out Cliton Crumpler's course, CGMA, Think Tank, etc. I was heavily drawn to Vertex due to their program's length, price and that it's split into character and environment. What Ryan has built is great and I couldn't recommend it more.

What Our Students Are Saying
Game Development Program

Trey Owens
I had zero 3D experience before joining the Game Development Program at Vertex School. I first discovered Vertex through a perfectly timed Google ad while I was considering a career change.
Video games have always been a lifelong passion of mine, and after learning more about the school, I felt it offered the flexible schedule I needed along with access to top-tier mentors. At the start, I wasn’t sure which skills I wanted to focus on, but as I worked with my incredible mentors, I found myself drawn to Level Design and System Design. Bringing a game’s mechanics to life and making it function as intended quickly became a true joy for me.
My experience at Vertex was overwhelmingly positive. Many of my classmates have become close friends, and my mentors, William Harvey, Brandon Sebastian, and Filipe Strazzeri, were instrumental in guiding me forward. Their feedback not only strengthened my skills but also helped me discover my own identity as a developer.

Noah Fischer
I absolutely loved the course! Coming into the course with no previous experience in game development, it exposed me to so many different aspects of game development including programming, world-building, animation, and more.
The instructors were always able to answer any questions I had either in the lab or in our Discord chat. I feel like I have a great network of people from my cohort as well.
I would have nowhere near the experience level and confidence I have gained over the last 6 months had I not signed up for the Game Development Program.
If you’re just starting out with no experience, looking to make a switch from say Game Art or Game Design, or just looking to enhance your existing Game Development experience, I highly recommend Vertex School.

I highly recommend this program through the Vertex School. They are an Unreal Engine Authorized Training Center and I went from having zero knowledge to having a solid understanding of how UE works using blueprints, c++, and Python.
It was quite the adventure and very satisfying to see something that was just in my imagination spring to life. One of my favorite things about the mentors at Vertex school is that they will support and help you solve really ambitious problems if that’s where you choose to go with it!
