This first lecture is on the importance of the skeleton and the proportions used as a general guideline for the course.

Using the muscle sheets given for the entire course, we start week 2 with the muscles of the leg and we discuss the breakdown of the feet and their structure.

(“Leg” in anatomy refers to the area between the knee to the foot, basically the shin/calf area). The muscles and tendons of the leg and feet will be drawn as well as four drawings of feet for art or life.

For the anatomical drawings of the legs,use art reference, side view, walk/step like pose as shown in the recording.

The muscles of the thighs and glutes are examined and drawn anatomically as well as labeled. Use art reference that is close to being front view, close in on the thigh,draw and label both left and right thighs using your muscle sheet as a check list. Do the same using a back view. Four thighs total.

 The muscles of the font torso and deltoids will be anatomically drawn using art reference,labeled and the original reference will be redrawn either digitally or traditionally.

The anatomical view should have the abdominal aponeurosis (sometimes referred to as the external oblique aponeurosis) one side should have the aponeurosis cut to show the rectus abdominis underneath the aponeurosis as seen in the lecture recording.

 Same as week 3 except find a back view. One half of the back will show the deep muscles, the other superficial as seen in the recording.

 Using the images given by Professor Rey, draw the muscles on your sheet for both the Cain and Abel painting by Daniele Crespi and also the crucifixion image by Domenichino.

You will also draw, digitally or traditionally, four hands from art or life.

 You will be asked to draw or digitally paint four view of the same head using photographs that you take. Often students use themselves and do a self portrait. One looking straight, one with the head turned ¾ left or right, one looking straight down, and one looking straight up.

 Two options or do both options. Option one: Take any art of a full body, standing figure, one front and one back view and draw every muscle seen, every muscle on your lists.

Do the same for the back view. You can also draw or digitally paint the entire figure front and back. 

If you really want to get the full benefit, do both. If you can or decide to do both options, draw the two figures that you used for the anatomical illustrations.

There is a third option, just do any two figures front and back in any way or method that you like to enhance and customize this class to fit your needs.
