Learn The Pipeline Of RTS Art
Learn how to apply practical workflows to create assets with one of the Industry’s leading artists, Tobias Forsling. Tobias has been creating RTS games for the majority of his career and currently works fulltime as a Art Director at Palindrome Interactive.
Tobias will teach you the workflows needed for creating game ready assets for the RTS genre. Critical thinking and scaling will be the prime objective that must be overcome to develop a proper RTS game. You will learn all the steps in the pipeline and understand how to prepare your RTS models to work successfully.
What You’ll Learn
The course will go through the full process of Creating an RTS Art style. The emphasis will be on creating Game ready assets for a playable RTS Game.
By the end of the course, students will learn how to adjust camera and lighting with in the engine, Learn how to change dimensions for map objects and there size ratio to playable game units. How to optimally use slope tilt angles, width of passageways and different texture techniques and how to make glowing highlights for pathways and the points of interest.
This course on Creating RTS style art, will consist of six modules of live lessons and reviews. You’ll learn core modeling, development skills, and workflows and be part of a community of artists working to achieve next level quality in their work.
By the end of the workshop you'll:

- Have created your own house and game ready assest for your own project
- Have learned about optimization with in the engine and how to achieve certain FX's
Introduction and design
An introduction to the course and what are some reasonable designs with the RTS Genre
Learn basic building blocks within the engine to be able to create your own house and make props to go with the scene. Learn about the glowing highlight for pathways, How to make vivid plants stick out for the player.
Learn to Contextualize your props within the house, Be able to make points of interest within your textures to make them pop to the player, Adding scenery for your project.
Scene comp, Lighting & FX
Build up a diorama and add effects for the house and your props, Change the camera, adjust dimensions, Learn about slope tilts angles. the size of playable units
Take a pass to optimize the models and assets with in the engine and learn how to render
Expression, refining details, and lighting. To optimize for a powerful presentation.
