What You’ll Learn

This course will take you through the entire vegetation pipeline, using Blender and Unreal. Students will be constructing a tree from start to finish. Pushing the potential and your own ability to pay attention to nuances and the specific elements are what will help your portfolio stand out.

By the end of the course, students will have a deep understanding of the vegetation in real time process. They will have also gained knowledge on how to troubleshoot new problems or tasks.

Students will also learn about the performance constraints they might run into in a real production pipeline.

  • Understand how to properly use shaders in Unreal Engine.

Foliage In Unreal Engine is a, Step-by-Step Course that walks you through creating vegetation for your portfolio!

 WEEK 1 

Vegetation Intro

140 minutes

Chico will showcase how to use photogrammetry data in a vegetation pipeline. The students will be able to use the data provided, use their own data (if they have it) or grab a scan from for example megascans.


Japanese Crab Blockout

 135 minutes

In this sprint, Chico demonstrates how to blockout the canopy, he will also be going over how to paint a canopy blockout in photoshop and use it to create our initial canopy clusters. Using these clusters to get the canopy blockout in.



Shaders In Unreal

107 minutes

In this sprint, Chico will begin creating the shaders for the tree. Bringing in his current models in unreal. Demonstrates all the different processes.

WEEK 4-5

Highpoly Canopy

72 minutes

In this sprint, Chico will be going over the most important elements for the highpoly model. He will start creating the files needed for the highpoly, developing a sheet that will be used to create the highpoly elements.


Completing The Canopy

148 minutes

In this sprint, Chico will be finishing the canopy, lilac, and the tree.

Create A Portfolio Ready Vegetation

In the next few sprints, Chico will mentor his students to develop there very own portolio ready vegeation. From start to finish.
